DO-IT Mentors
Website
Overview
The DO-IT Mentors program connects students with disabilities to a diverse network of mentors—including college students, faculty, and professionals, many of whom have disabilities themselves. Through online communities and program activities, mentors share their experiences, offer guidance, and help young people prepare for college, careers, and independent living. This program is part of the DO-IT Center’s mission to empower individuals with disabilities through technology, education, and peer support
Description
Families can use the DO-IT Mentors program to help their child build confidence, develop self-advocacy skills, and explore future possibilities. Mentors provide encouragement and practical advice on navigating academic and career pathways, while modeling success and resilience. The program fosters a sense of belonging and community, helping youth with disabilities envision and pursue self-determined lives. It’s a valuable resource for transition planning and long-term empowerment.
