Open Doors for Multicultural Families
Open Doors for MultiCultural Families (Open Doors or ODMF) provides culturally and linguistically relevant information, services, and programming to culturally and linguistically diverse families of persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Washington. The families we serve are often immigrants, refugees, and/or people of color. We accomplish this using a “cultural brokering” model. Our staff come from the same culture and speak the same language as the families they serve, and so are able to communicate with the family in their own language, and in a way that will make sense within their cultural context.

FACT Oregon
FACT Oregon empowers families and transforms how communities perceive disability. Our peer support, training, and resources equip and empower families, transform how they see disability, and help them have high expectations and dream big dreams for their children. We draw on the lived experience of our team, many themselves parents of youth experiencing disability, and call out the critically important role of parent/caregiver as a child’s number one fan and advocate. FACT Oregon holds that disability is a natural part of the human condition and that people experiencing it have the right and ability to create fulfilling, whole, self-determined lives.

Stone Soup Group
Stone Soup Group is an Alaska-wide 501(c)3 non-profit that provides information, support, training and resources to assist families caring for children with special needs in Alaska. We are staffed almost entirely by parents or family members of children with special needs, so we know the journey and work from a family centered philosophy. We work to assist families as they navigate through what is often an overwhelming and confusing process following a diagnosis or at times of transition later down the road. We understand that no family should have to navigate the system alone; and no single organization is the solution to everything. We are here to provide that link to relevant community resources so that Alaskan children and families living with special needs receive quality coordinated care and support. Our services are available statewide and most programs and services are at no cost to families.

Leadership in Disabilities & Achievement of Hawai’i
The goal of Leadership in Disabilities & Achievement of Hawai’i (LDAH) is to help families and schools to understand the IDEA and how to use it to benefit children with all disabilities. We serve families of children of all ages (birth to 26) and all disabilities (physical, cognitive, behavioral, and emotional) by providing a variety of services including one-on-one support and assistance, workshops, publications, and web sites.
The majority of Parent Center staff and board are parents of children with disabilities, so they are able to bring personal experience and expertise when working with families.
